Bountiful Baskets is a produce co-op where you can get fresh produce at a great price because so many people are participating. A basket costs $15 (plus $1.50 processing, so $16.50) and you get around $40 worth of produce. They try to do 50/50 fruits/vegetables.
Here are some baskets I got a few years ago (back when I took pictures to send to my sister each time):
The box of citrus was an add-on ($12, I think?), so the $16.50 included everything that isn't in the box. Awesome, right? |
This was another add-on (around $7 maybe?). It was the Italian pack. It's how I discovered I love ratatouille. |
It's the perfect option for those on a gluten free diet! It's good for anyone, but especially those doing gluten free. Fruit and vegetables are all naturally gluten free, so it gives you a large variety of snack options and meal ideas. It has really broadened my recipe collection (watch for a Jerusalem artichoke recipe post coming up). When your options are limited this is a very good thing. Plus, it can save you money.
They have locations all over Utah as well as Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. If your state isn't listed here check around for a produce co-op near you.
Actually, the reason these pictures are from over a year ago is because I started my own produce co-op when I lived in Woods Cross. I got a bunch of friends and neighbors (24 to be exact) and we bought our produce at wholesale since there were so many of us. Since moving I've started doing Bountiful Baskets again because I don't know 24 people well enough to start a co-op going. I would love to again though (I got my basket for free doing it that way).
If you have any questions about Bountiful Baskets or about how to start your own co-op, let me know and I'd be more than happy to help!
Have you heard anything about Quality Farm Foods?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond! I saw this on my phone and was going to look into it once I was on my computer... but forgot :(.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard anything about this till now and am definitely interested in learning more. I'm going to do a post asking if anyone knows more about it.
Thanks for introducing me to it!
